Floss likes and dislikes
What is your opinion of the cotton floss compared to the satin/rayon?

All of my work has been done in cotton so I decided to try the satin/rayon. Not very impressed with it.

Is seems to fray....

What have you run into using the satin/rayon? The two strands don't seem to stay together as well as the cotton.

Thanks

You are correct, isn't as easy to work with as cotton. You can do a couple of things. Definately work with much short strands at a time, that helps a little with the fraying and seems a little easier to control. Also, may want to check for Thread Heaven to help it lay nicer and earier to work with two strands that way. I did a complete project in satin floss and it does turn out very nice!!

I do all my projects in DMC cotton floss. I tried satin/rayon once and just didn't like it. It depends on each person's preference and that what is so nice about cross stitching. Everyone can do their own thing.

Thread Heaven is a little cube with goop that tames thread, supposedly. Replaced bee's wax. Hard to find in major craft shops now, but available online.

Be sure to weave your rayon a long way when finishing of a length. It wiggles loose.

I did check out that website but it says that in time, the darker threads will show a little gray from the wax.. have you ever encountered that?
