Christmas Eve Stocking
Is this a counted cross stitch pattern. Can it be done on burlap type material.

If you do this on burlap, it will be huge! It is 23" tall by 18" wide if done on 18 count linen. That s 18 cross stitches to an inch. I am sure burlap would make it huge...Santa might have a hard time filling it!

k1, Su Pitt is absolutely correct. I stitched this stocking three times and used 18ct linen. If you buy the size recommended on the pattern you can actually fold and cut it in half and get two stocking out of it. But be careful, you won't have a lot to waste. I ended up with enough for eight stockings instead of four.
I used the recommended overdyed floss colors and on some I used DMC. I also used Kreinik and various other little embellishments to break the tedium and individualize them. They went to different parts of the country and the recipients are not likely to meet up. I do not like stitching the same pattern more than once but since I had the material and the floss!!!!! This pattern stitches up in a jiffy. I did four other ones by the same designer, they took a little longer. I am still working on the snowman one for a buddy down the street. She won't get it this year. My daughter does the assembly and she said that she would not do another one this year. LOL
Good luck.
PS You'll have to stitch with four strands of floss - that's the part I hate. I like to work with no more than two. Keep us posted.
