Sew together stockings
I have been working on these stockings which I just love and enjoy doing, but I have misplaced the instructions on how to sew the felt backing together. Can anyone help me?

Thank so much,
Sanyi

They look tiny and I can't see the details very well. I use fusible lining on the back of the stocking (stitched part), then cut a piece of lining and sew everything together. I serge or zigzag the raw edges and attach the cuff. I line the cuff as well to give it body. Of course it all depends on the weight of the material you are using.
Some have bias tape like finishing - I've never done that. From what I've seen, I believe cording of some sort is placed into the bias tape and then gets sewn between the front (stocking) and the back. I wish that I could show you. It's all very easy but sounds complicated. I hate sewing and my daughter does it for me now. I got rid of my simple machine and the one I have now drives me nuts. It's too much trouble. The manual that comes with it looks like a bible. I don't have the patience to read it on the few occasions that I use the machine.
Is there a shop that you could go to? Or maybe the people that sell sewing machines at JoAnn's could show you, you could pretend that you are interested in their product. LOL
Last resort - find someone who will do it for a fee.
How many do you have to assemble????

I stitch the same type of ornaments every year and give them as gifts. Last year I found fusible backing at Hobby Lobby (by the yard) It works great. I stitch and seal and cut out the ornaments and place them face up on the knobby side of the backing fabric. cover with damp cloth and iron for 15 seconds. Make sure you remove the damp cloth immediately so it doesn't stick to the backing. Then just cut off the excess backing. I slice the stocking with an exacto knife a couple of rows down to insert ribbon for hanging. Try it with a blank aida first to make sure you have settings right. The fusible backing comes with directions

I was under the impression that the stitcher was making small stockings, not ornaments. Can't help you there, I've never stitched ornaments and doubt that I ever will. Sorry.
I will say though that I would attach something attractive to the back so when they are viewed from different angles they'll still look attractive. Maybe stitching the same motif front and back?
