If I was U I would have done it on 14. I like this pattern. When I work my cross stitch I use 3 strands of floss it looks more better to me then just 2

Yes, you could use 14 count, the fabric will be covered in any rate. It will come out a little smaller then stated and I would definitely use 3 strands of floss.

I think it depends on the look you want. Sometimes I use 3 strands and sometimes 2. When I work on smaller count - even changing to 16 count, I always use 2 strands.

Do you think it would look as good at 18 count? Not sure my eyes could do the 25 evenweave.

The best thing to do is a test piece. That way you will know if you like using 2 or 3 strands of floss before you start. Using 14 count will make the picture bigger not smaller as someone commented on. Heaven and Earth Designs are charted so that you can use any count. But keep in mind that even the mini patterns end up being big.
