Difficult for me
Have started over 3 times. 1) Don't understand directions, 2) They don't work, or 3) They don't match chart. I'm not used to this. Bad designer? Senior moment? I've done much harder, so maybe there's an aging thing at 67.

I have many patterns yet to stitch. One more try & it's the trash can!

Hi
What is going wrong? Maybe ai can help

Since you have tried 3x already, maybe you should check with the designer or their website because maybe there is a misprint(s) or a lack of clarity in the directions you are working from before you decide to trash the whole thing. Sometimes corrections are listed on the designer's website that have been found after printing and likely were discovered by stitchers when they attempted to stitch the design or maybe you were the stitcher to find the problem. Good luck.

jl,

Should I ask? Is the pattern not following the symbols? The chart incorrect?
I do NOT believe it's a "senior" moment....you are a very experienced stitcher!
Even if you give the project the "old heave ho" please let us know the problems with this pattern, so other stitchers know what's going on with it, before they purchase it.
Good idea to call/email the "customer service" of company that has created the situation, just to see if they can assist....

Have written to the designer, so we will see. So far, I'm dealing with the border & diamond shape. Border calls for Diamond Smyrnas and partials, but it's drawn like regular Smyrnas in boxes. Neither meets the central diamond shape or looks good.

The large diamond shape calls for Diamond Smyrnas with Hungarian between. Looks like Satin. Model looks different than both.

Once mastered, there will be cross stitch, eyelets, something she calls Rays. Should be ok. I'm familiar with all these stitches, so I think it's the chart, plus whatever her modeler stitched. Picture different, but too small to tell what was done.

Will post chart asap.

will be interesting to see what the designer has to say. I give you credit for knowing all those different type of stitches that the pattern calls for.

jl, if you can't figure it out no one can. There is something wrong with it. Retire it any way you see fit and don't give it another thought! Sorry about that. It's not a senior moment on your part but on the designer's!

Designer responded today with new charts for the diamond smrynas, and the other problems I was having. Very nice & will be no problem to complete. I haven't been to the website, but she had the new charts at hand. Thanks, everyone!

That is great news JL and I'm glad that you had a favorable response from the designer to the problem. Happy stitching (-:
