Very pretty piece. I would suggest starting with something smaller and less detailed.

This is beautiful, but would be quite challenging for someone who has never cross stitched. First of all, the pattern would not be printed on the fabric as it was in your needlepoint projects. You would have to get accustomed to looking at a pattern and then counting and making stitches on blank fabric. It's very good advice to start with something smaller. Cross stitch is a wonderful hobby. You'll enjoy it!

This is a very pretty piece, but it is for a very experienced cross stitcher. I would start with a very simple piece first to "get the hang of it". Go to the cross stitch kits link here on ECS and order one of the beginner kits. Though cross stitching is not hard you need to start simple and work your way up so you don't get frustrated and give up.

I agree with the others. Start with something small with a few color changes and see how you like it first. Once you get comfortable with the stitches and get a feeling of accomplishment by finishing your small project, you'll be able to tell if you like to do this form of stitching. If you REALLY like it, don't be afraid to ask questions if you get stuck here on this "chat". There are a lot of VERY experienced counted cross stitchers here that can help you. Even experienced stitchers have questions at times.
If you do like to do counted then you get "addicted" to it like the rest of us are.
Let us know how you are doing!

jselzer80,

Have you seen other Thomas Kinkade patterns besides this one?

jseler80, I am with the other stitchers pm this. I think it would be to your advantage to start with something smaller in size. Having said that....I do hope you will create a sign on with Everything Cross Stitch and put this on your "wish list"!!! We do that all the time!
