Crescent colours
This is my first time using crescent colours. Do I have to cross stitch each stitch individually because of the dyed pattern or can I do a row one way and then back.
Thanks

Stitch each stitch separately. You can stitch rows, like you say, but the design will look very different. Remember CC isn't colorfast, so wash hands often.

Thank you for your quick post. Why do I have to wash my hands frequently? What does not colorfast mean?

The dye in the floss may run if washed. If you keep the project clean, you can skip washing it, as most have to do. I guess an alternative is to prewash the floss & blot it on paper towels. Some say vinegar sets the dye, but I've always been careful & kept the cloth clean.

Uou are right, jl, that's a big chance to take. Next time I use overdyes I will prewash. I want to know just how much color washes out.

I really wish the manufacturers would "prewash" BEFORE they send the floss to the companies that sell them....

I have completed several projects with overdyed floss and don't think it is necessary to complete each stitch before the next. You can do a row over and back and still get the color variation. Try to use the threads from the same end when stitching with two threads.
