How do you NOT buy way too many patterns?!?! :)
This is a rant...haha!!

There are so many patterns I want, and I have neither the cash nor the time to do them all. Things are worse because I love doing large, full-coverage patterns that take loads of time. And then, even WORSE, I see sales on the patterns I want. No, I don't break down and buy. I still manage to think practically (those sales will come around again), but my goodness! What's a stitcher to do with so many beautiful choices?!?! :)

Oh yeah, and I already have a bunch of patterns in my stash (ones that I've already paid for and have to do at some point!!)

*scream!!** :)

IT IS HARD. I am proud to say that I have not purchased a pattern in about a year. I've been tempted many times. I've only bought a few pieces of fabric. I've also purchased a limited amount of floss Two weeks ago I bout one skein of DMC #8230 because I needed it to finish a project. Came home and set it on my work table. It disappeared. Made a special trip to Michaels to buy another skein. Finished my project a few days ago. The next day I found the first one. I have made a huge effort not to buy but it has been very hard.

We need to start a support group.

And having access to the Internet does'nt help...it's so easy to browse the patterns at night when hot flashes keep me awake lol...so far I've been able to control my urge to buy but my wish list is getting up into triple digits.....

bthompson--I totally understand that. Sometimes while I'm relaxing before I go to sleep, I just spend an hour or so on the Internet looking at my wish lists and adding more to them. I have a wish list on another website with nearly 900 patterns. Seriously! And on ECS, there's easily over 200 on my wish list--and I actually removed a lot a few weeks ago. Yeah, I feel insane....

That's because you ARE insane!!! Ain't it great?

kh, you need to gain control! I don't know how old you are but even under the best of circumstances I doubt that you can stitch 1,100 projects in one life time!

I thought I was insane for having 4 on my wishlist. If I want a pattern I'll buy it. Those four are on there because I am not sure if I really want them.

I'm signing off. I wanted to order the floss pack but am afraid that I will end up adding 1, 996 patterns to my wishlist. LOL

VCESS--haha! Yes, I've been told that!!

TexasStitcher--What? I can't do 1,100 patterns?! Of course I can! All I have to do is NOT sleep, eat, use the bathroom, clean, talk to anybody, or anything else! It's simple!! Haha! I leave all the patterns in my wish lists because I just adore looking at all of them and wishing. There are very, very few things in my life that I get excited about, so right now I'm using a lot of my excitement on looking at cross stitch patterns!! (Oh, and I didn't tell you about the other wish lists I have on other sites!!!! Shhh! It's a secret!!!)

well, I feel much better about having so many patterns in my stash. I am sure I will never get to them all, but it is fun having them. And I have a granddaughter who is heavy into CS and she has 2 daughters, so I am sure some one will enjoy my stash. I just started building my stash up again, I used to do alot of Cs. some years ago. Besides if you don't buy them when you see them they might not be available when you are ready for them. ( that is as good an excuse as any) My Darlin' late husband loved tools he never had too many, so we understood one another pretty well. Tho I must confess I was worse than he was. He was a lovely patient man!

I put myself on a pattern diet recently, and am kitting up the ones I have...that alone will take many, many years! I have fabric, lots of floss. I am such an idiot...either perfectionistic or OCD, not sure...I want my projects to look just like the picture/photo on the pattern. What a hard task to assign oneself. I am very good at hiding boo-boos, so no one notices.

I still will buy a pattern but it has to really grab me...and I ask myself, "Will you truly do this?" And also, "Where will it go when it is done?" Luckily, I have to do small designs because we live in a very tiny beach cottage without enough walls, unless I get DH to remove our favorite art. I do buy designs with others in mind, but am afraid that they will hate it! Haven't inundated the oldest, in Arizona as yet...she will be next to be buried up to her neck in my stuff!

We are all addicted!

I have more patterns than I will ever get done unless I live to be 120 years old. I do have several in my wish list so I don't have to go look them up if I decide to purchase them. I am getting better though. Now I ask myself 'Will I really do this pattern if I buy it?" before I purchase a new pattern. It seems to help me.
