Searching for US Cross Stitcher October 1998 issue
Since everyone is posting and looking for old cross stitch charts, I have been looking for the above issue for several years and have seen issues around this time but not the one I'm searching to find. I have many issues of this magazine but not until just after this date. Does anyone have this issue. I am very interested in the cover design cornucopia pictured on the cover. Thanks (-:

Miss Cross Stitch I checked Amazon and did find a listing for an issue that was new, so I just paid a little more for it. Thank you for the idea. I don't often think to check Amazon for cross stitch stuff for some reason. Since my husband has an account there, this was an easy purchase. I look forward to stitching this colorful cornucopia and am just waiting for it to arrive in my mailbox (-:

My magazine issue that I purchased from Amazon arrived in the mail today and appeared new except for a 1/4" tear on every page in the same spot which was likely from the postal service mailbox when it was received by its prior recipient, since the envelope I received was clean and unbroken. The chart itself was not damaged, so I could work from a copy of this despite the tears.

The print of the chart is very tiny, and I often wonder how the magazine editors and designers (for charts we purchase) expect anyone to be able to work from this size print in the first place. We continue to receive some charts we purchase with miniscule print. Due to the difficulties we encounter to try and get enlarged copies because of the copyright laws, you would think they would try to start us off with a decent, readable copy so we would not have to go to the extra expense and trouble of having to find a place who will copy and enlarge without a battle. I just ran out to have enlarged copies made. This can be a challenge with copyrighted material even though it clearly states that it is acceptable in the magazine to make a working copy, most of the copy places refuse anyway. There is only one local store where I live who will make enlarged copies of my cross stitch charts. All of the others first question is if the material is copyrighted, and if it is, they refuse immediately. I show them that the magazine prints and states that it is acceptable to make a working copy but they stand firm and it is not worth my stress to fight them. Despite all of these hassles, I finally found this chart with Miss Cross Stitch’s help from 1998 and have succeeded in obtaining my enlarged copy to work from, sigh, a full day’s work!

Thank you Miss Cross Stitch and Barb for your replies, and Barb for the offer to send your copy if it was needed. Cross stitchers are great, helpful people and I thank you both.

Best wishes and keep on stitching. Lynn

Lynn...I know what you mean about the almost unreadable charts in cross stitch magazines especially the older magazines..I've noticed that the newer issues have better charts..anyway glad you got the pattern you wanted...Barb
