Chat Boards Updates
Hello Everyone,

A while back, Troy posted a message on here about wanting to hear some feedback from you all on what updates you would like to see with the message boards. Wellllll, he wanted me to let you know that starting next week (and the few weeks after that), he is going to be working on updates for the chat board!! YAY!! If anyone would like to add anything to the list or have any new ideas as far as updates or changes go, please reply to this post and we will see what we can do :) Thank you all for using our chat boards to communicate and share things, not only about cross stitching, but other things as well :) We want to make it better for everyone so please, any ideas or suggestions you have will be greatly appreciated and heard!

Thank you everyone!!

Hi Kristi,
A couple of suggestions for the Chat board, but I'm not very "computer literate" so I'll just give the suggestions and Troy can then use his computer knowledge to decide.

Suggestion # 1: Limit the "chat" messages that have been saved to only the previous chats in the last
6 months. For Example: This is September 2015, so a person would only have the
prior chats from April 1 to look back at. It would save computer "space" and if
someone can't find the information in the past 6 months worth of "chats", they can
put their question on the "chat" board again. Also saves frustration trying to look at all
the "chats" from 2-3 years ago.

Suggestion # 2: I will NOT take credit for this, but I think one of the other stitchers had mentioned
about categorizing the "chat" messages. I think that is an excellent idea.
The other stitchers will see my chat so the stitcher that suggested this idea can put it
forward to you.

Hope this helps!

Please allow multiple pictures on a new post.

Please code the database to cut off each day older than 6 -12 months.

A non-allowed word list would be nice, if it. could be done. Ditto, Subject Searching in the Chit Chat.

PS: Hire someone go catch up the supply lists & descriptions. Those Mormon ladies have you beat at 123.

I also vote for the deletion of all chat messages over 6 months old. Thanks for asking for our ideas.

It would be nice if there was a "search" for a certain word, like "gridding"; then we could read the chats about it. Thank you!

I vote for not deleting chats that are old. When I first came to this board, I liked looking to see what you guys had talked about before. However I do think they should only be accessed as 'read-only.' I've seen on other forums where the posts are closed but are available to be read.

Sometimes I wish I could just "Like" a post without commenting on it.

My #1 suggestion is like the others said. Eliminate chats older than 6 months. Anything older than that has been taken care of or the person changed their mind. There are just too many old pages of chats that no one looks at really or someone goes back over a year and answers it like it was just posted.

#2 I belong to a quilting chat room and we have different headings for different topics. One is for general talk where we all care how others are doing in their families. There are several others for different types of quilting themes like charity quilts, types of fabrics and supplies, and quilting photos among some of the choices. I have belonged to that chat room for several years and have met several of the quilters in person. We have quilters from USA, Canada, England and Scotland to name a few countries. We support each other when we have a family crisis.

Otherwise I really enjoy this chat room.

I second the motion for a way to search the postings, even if it is just by posting title.

I agree that you can only keep stuff so long, so deleting out really old messages works for me. A lot of general questions get repeated anyhow. Like Bermuda said, you can always ask again. I have spent my fair share of time looking back through old messages, but if I went back too far I would never get any stitching or anything else done.

One thing that that would be handy to add would be the "Post a Reply" and "Return to Topic List" buttons at the end of the posts as well. That way you wouldn't have to scroll way back up to the top when there gets to be a larger number of replies.

Thanks Kristi, Troy and everyone at ECS! You have an attractive and easy to navigate website with great customer service and products. The chat board is very helpful and fun!

I would like to see a "spell check" option on the Chit Chat Reply. I noticed many times people have misspelled words.

Limiting the posts to six months is fine with me.
