perforated paper
I have never done a kit with perforated paper. Is it easy to do?

Perforated paper is a lot lighter than the Aida cloth. As you know it is paper and it has holes as the Aida cloth. It can tear easily. you have to be careful when you use it. I just want to let you know if you want something to lest for years to come you can use the plastic canvas instead of the perforated one. Good luck.

Hi,
I have some Mill Hill projects that use perforated paper but because of my concerns of the perforated paper tearing (and lasting over the years), I bought 28 count fabric to use instead of the paper. Many kits come with 14-count perforated paper so I just switched to a fabric I enjoy using.

the only problem I have with perforated paper is running the end thread underneath the reverse threads ... the more cross overs you leave on the back the better

but I love the non-finishing steps of the paper ... just trim & hang

Easy-peasy...never had the issues stated by others. Good experience all-in-all. I don't care for the brown paper very much...someone suggested replacing with another color of paper...did not know it existed...or, a color fabric. Great suggestion...especially to make multiple ornaments... :) Enjoy! :)

I like the perforated paper myself and often switch the Mill Hill kits to fabric and use the perforated paper from the kit to stitch bookmarks. I know bookmarks may be outdated now to some because of e-readers, but some of us still like good, old-fashioned books to read. I like stitching on the paper too for a change of pace, since it gives you a break from stitching with a hoop or frame all of the time and it's also easy to mount with little fuss for washing, pressing, etc.

Good idea, Catlovr! Artecy had a free fractal bookmark download not long ago that I fell in love with...I think this would be a very quick work idea. :)

That sounds like a great idea Vcess. They have some really nice bookmarks here condensed from the works of the great artists if you search just bookmarks in the search field, you'll see what I mean. Not long ago, I got the Starry Night one here but have a lot of stash reducing (finish the stitching of many, many projects not discarding stash) to do before I can think of starting even one more tiny project, no less anything larger, lol. The stitching time required to get to that point will be an all winter hibernation stitching process and part of spring to get there. I love and start way too many projects.
