I'm thinking about getting this for my 10-year-old niece for her first project. Any thoughts?

That is a good one but if U want her to learn the cross stitch that belong to Aida cloth it is better for her to learn on a smaller one that this one. There is plenty of kits on the cross stitch site just log and find them.

I think it is a great gift for a ten year old. Just so you know -- this is embroidery, not counted cross stitch. Embroidery is a great craft for youngster. The design is stamped on the fabric and the stitching would be like tracing with thread. It would be easy for your niece to see exactly where she should be stitching. Looks like fun to me

I learned Embroidery. My 1st project was a kangaroo that won me 2nd place in a contest. It got me curious about cross-stitch, because my mother did it.

How thoughtful of you to include family into cross stitch. I think she would enjoy these designs. So cute and easy to stitch. No so overwhelming but designed to keep her interest. Happy stitching!!!
