Floss
When I checked off the boxes for the floss it shows quanity 2 for each one. It comes to around $42 for the pattern & floss. That seems like a lot for a small little picture. Should it just be 1 of each floss? Let me know. Thanks. Is that DMC floss? I might have them already or it's cheaper to just buy them and just get the pattern only.

You only need one skein of floss for each color. If you already have some DMC floss, check to see if you have the needed color; if you do, then don't order that color. I sometimes get my DMC floss from 123Stitch.com. It's a cute beach cottage.

I just looked again at the recommended thread and I see there are several skeins of a specialty thread (those that are $2.20). Rather than buy the specialty thread you can convert it to a DMC floss which would save you a lot of money. Perhaps another stitcher on this message board knows the brand of the more expensive threads and you can google conversion charts for that brand to DMC.

I only get the patterns because the kits are too expensive. Cheaper to buy the materials yourself.

Hello,

The floss list that is shown underneath of the pattern consists of DMC, Weeks Dye Works and Crescent Colours, with the Weeks and Crescents being more expensive. You can always convert those into DMC if you just want to use DMC floss.

The floss listing we have only shows 1 skein of floss needed for each color. To the right the of the color number and name, you will see a number right next to the price and that is the number of skeins you need for that particular color. My guess is that you added the floss list twice to your shopping cart and that's how the quanitify of 2 showed up in there. Only 1 skein of floss for each color is listed and is what is needed. Hope this helps. Thank you :)

I almost always just buy the patterns and sometimes the fabric at the same time and then buy the floss over time. For instance, if you have a Michaels or Joanns near you, watch for their coupons in the paper and purchase your floss that way. I start with the main color or two - usually in the center. -- and buy the others as they come up. Takes longer but is much less expensive.

Thanks so much for all your help. Where can you see a DMC conversion chart if I ever needed it?

Try cyberstitchers.com. The pattern often lists the DMC equivalent.
