How hard is this?
I have not done any count cross-stitching in a long time. Just would like to know if this is easy or NOT???

I believe it is very hard and wouldn't start on it if you haven't done cross stitch often. That's only my opinion but I'm working on one that is sort of like this and am about to quit it and I've done cross stitch for years. It would be better, I think, if you picked an easier pattern to get back into doing cross stitch.

I have been stitching for over 64 years and would definitely consider this difficult. I have not yet begun this, but it is in my stash to do. I only would begin one big project at a time and have one underway! This has lots of color changes, which seem to affect my level of anxiety.

I see it has 26 colors of floss. That's not too bad. I have seen patterns with a lot more. As long as it doesn't have fractional stitching and as long as you buy a pre-gridded aida, I bet you could do it. This is one of Van Gogh's nicest paintings. I see it has wool and acrylic thread. I would suggest that you go match the colors to dmc floss. Good luck with it.

Working a Riolis kit myself with the wool fibers, I wouldn't recommend this for someone who hasn't done much cross stitching. The fibers alone require a lot of patience to use ;) And the size of this might become a bit over-whelming.

It sure is a lovely piece though!

I am STILL working (or will be) on an early version of A STARRY NIGHT...this kit is a simplified version of those early patterns...at least I think it must be...fewer colors and smaller size--I highly recommend using DMC, Anchor, or Sullivan's flosses for ease of use.

My version was gifted to me because my friend was intimidated by the 97 colors and crazy color changes...I didn't have the smarts to be intimidated. :) But I think a smaller, simpler pattern is a great way to try these "new" patterns! :)

I started in the center...27 color changes in the first 100 square...after strolling through 4 more squares, I gridded the whole thing...MUCH EASIER GOING! No getting lost or frogging!!! :)

If it got lost, my advice is to not worry...if you love it, you're going to do whatever needed to complete it...take your time, take advice as needed, or warranted, and LOVE IT!!! :)
