32ct linen
I have never used linen, only aida. Is the linen very fine? Do you stitch the same way as aida? Are the thread colors comparable to DMC?

Stitch on linen, two over two threads. I always use linen because I really like the look. 32 count is a finer linen and if I were you I would start with 28 count or lower. 28 linen is the size of 14 Aida. It may be a little closer work but worth the effort.
Good luck,

I transitioned from Aida to 25ct Lugana and then moved on to linen. Lugana is an evenweave and very easy to stitch on. I love both types of fabric and have never looked back! :) Good luck and let us know how you like it.

These designs can be worked on 16 count aida, if the fine linen is scary. I use it only because I cam
N't see that well...probably because I loved to stitch on 32, 36 and 40 count fabrics for over 60 hears and then found, in my late 60s that my vision is poor.

Aida u stitch 1 over. Other fabric u stitch 2 over. I use evenweave cause it's softer and the design looks prettier.

Rosieposie, thank you for the conversion of Aida to linen. I currently stitch on 18 Aida. Am I correct in thinking that would be 32 in linen? I have a hankering to try a linen project.

I might be wrong, but just double the count for linen. Aida14-linen 28, Aida16-linen 32, Aida18-linen 36. Check with Kristi at Everything Cross Stitch. They are always very helpful. I love the look of linen and I think you will like it also.

dlmccanse...I would encourage you to go ahead and try this design on the 32 count linen. First of all, it is a small design. I have used 32 count linen for much larger projects such as Santa of the Forest. I did not pick that design as my first time "trying" such a small count linen. I use linen and even weaves such as 28 count and just love the feel of the fabric and the finished look of the design. I have not made anything on Aida for probably 20 years!! We all have our individual fabrics that we love. Some of us made the switchover to linen and haven't gone back to Aida. Hope this helps you!!

when changing from aida to linen, take note that you do stitch differently. it does not matter when stitching on aida, but on linen you should watch whether you are pulling on the threads,,, if you have a charlescraft piece, there should be instructions inside.
