Of course, you can use any fabric you like. Just multiply the stitch count, select your fabric and fabric count and use the fabric calculator here on ECS. Add 3 inches on each side for framing.

How new to cross stitch are you? I am not sure if you may know the rather large project you are looking at doing. The completed size is 36" x 37.2" with approximately 88 different colors. I would never discourage another stitching person, however, this is HUGE and I don't want you to be overwhelmed and never do another thing. You may want to start out with something smaller and work up to a project of this magnitude. Just my opinion.
