What a striking pattern!

What is a tent stitch? Never heard of it.

Hello,

This is a fairly large pattern and it's all full cross stitches on the chart itself. You could certainly use tent stitching on this design if you're comfortable with that :) I bet it would look very lovely when all completed!!

Texas,

Tent Stitching is used in needlepoint. I am not familiar with needlepoint that much but I would love to learn more about it. I think using cross stitch patterns for needlepoint is quite common, I just don't know the details on how to do all of that :)

Thanks, Kristi. That's all I needed to know. I am not a needle point fan. I have done all manner of embroidery but never grasped the concept of needle point. I think it's just a half stitch but the way it's executed........ LOL
Ehrman's has beautiful tapestry patterns, many are for pillows. Pillows are yet another thing I am not in to.

Thanks, Miss C. That's something I can do. Hope that you are all moved in and like your new apartment/house.

It is really what we would consider a half-cross-stitch...just the first leg of a cross stitch, like so: /
I cannot afford needle point anymore. I did a large design if a fisherman, the canvas from France and all wool yarn, in all tent stitches. I was working in an expensive hand-painted canvas of the San Francisco Palace of Fine Arts, which has a pond in front and holds a special memory for my youngest child and me. The pond has ducks and swans. Vrey peaceful. The building is a left-over from the San Francisco big fair.
I broke out of cross stitch into some fancy needlepont stitches. Was pleased with it. Sad to say, it disappeared in our last move...or after, when I was ill and DH threw some of my favorite things in the trash. Grrrrrrrr!

Su Pitt- Did you let your DH know that throwing YOUR stuff out is a NO-NO!!!???
I have a neighbor whose DH went over to Europe for about one year (without her).
She did a bit of GARAGE-CLEANING while he was gone.....

I tried needlepoint when I was younger...back in the Dark Ages...and never took a "hankering" for it. Might have been because I looked at all the different stitches needlepoint has and that pretty much "killed" the interest.

I am sorely tempted to dispose of his fishing gear, books and possibly his dog. The favorite of his is his computer but I think I would just drip a syrupy fluid into it. He plays an online war game and does not spend time with me.

Su, I have to be so careful. DH has a tendency to throw things out. He is not particularly ambitious around the house but always seems to get into things that he has not business getting into. He's thrown out several comforters that were designated for basement storage (not in this house) and the cleaners. If I put it into a trash bag it's gone. I have to be so careful. However, real trash does not receive the same attention. It requires several reminders.
Bermuda, maybe 10 years ago, DH went back to Japan for a week or so to visit old friends and coworkers. I immediately held a garage sale and got rid of so much stuff. I couldn't lug all that junk to Goodwill. He never even missed it and has not asked about it. So why all this reluctance to let go? I abhor clutter.
Su. mine doesn't spend time with me either. I've talked about my guilty feelings many times here before. He sits in his room all day and watches TV. I try not to worry about it because he is rarely willing to compromise. He could come to my room and watch non-violent shows while I stitch but will not. On the rare occasions when he agrees to a program that I select he goes to sleep. So I quietly sneak out and return to my stitching. It's not like I get to do it much. Men are so much trouble.
I just saw a program about Avila and they mentioned that St. Teresa of Avila chose life as a nun so she wouldn't have to be under the control of a man! How is that for progressive thinking.

Tex! I so agree with your note...mine needs reminders of taking out the trash, and any little jobs to keep things in repair, but not about sticking in nose where it does not belong. Cross stitch? "Why do you need six of those?" "What are those things?"
I keep telling him that I truly need a used 4 drawer filing cabinet for patterns and a dresser for my fabrics, but he always finds some other commitment for any money. Cfan't complain too much, he cooks, but does no cleaning and his dog sheds volumes!
I guess that book title is true...they are from Mars and we are from Venus. We speak different languages. They have no interest in learning ours. I have spent years deciphering theirs.
