Yes! It is entirely possible to modify stocking patterns so that the toe points in the opposite direction. I have done it on a few occasions. All you need to do is copy the pattern on a copy machine, but make sure before you hit the PRINT button that the copier has the "mirror image" setting on. The mirror setting goes by a few different names, so you may need to consult your copier's user manual or online help to get the specific name and instructions on how to set it to mirror image. If your pattern is printed on a sheet larger than the normal 8 1/2 x 11, I recommend you take the pattern to your local copy shop, as they have printers that can handle large sizes. Again, make sure you request a mirror-image copy.

I recommend you keep both the original and mirror patterns at your workstation while you stitch, as the text on the mirror pattern will be backwards (right to left). So use the mirror pattern for the placement of the stitches and the regular pattern for the pattern instructions.

Good luck, and happy stitching.

If your printer won't mirror image copies, you can take it to a copy store. Pattern copyrights allow you a "working copy" and this would fall under that category.
