First time purchasing online.
This is my first time purchasing a cross stitch pattern on line. Can I purchase just the pattern, or does it come with the thread as well? I just saw the boxes to check off for the thread and wasn't sure if I had to order the thread. I already have a stock of thread; so I didn't want to duplicate thread I already have. Thank you.

This is just the pattern. Fabric, floss, and needle are purchased separately. The threads are just listed for your convenience. I would check my stash against the list and order the ones I didn't have.

This is a beautiful pattern. If you haven't stitched a large pattern in the past I would suggest gridding your fabric -- Baste 10 squares by 10 squares. It will make it easier to keep track of where you are stitching.

You can find information on gridding your fabric by using the search function at the top of the ChitChat section.

Check the floss you have in your personal stash against the suggested supply list. You can tell how many skeins of each color you need by looking on the middle number of the list. For example: there is a '4' after Floss #310 Black. That indicates that you will probably use four skeins of that color.

Thank you for the quick response. And the helpful hint. I just want to make sure....Is this a counted cross stitch pattern? I have done big patterns before, but I have never gridded my fabric. I will look into that. I looked it up. I am not sure that I understand. Is it just a canvas that you tear away as you stitch a section?

No, gridding typically does not use tear away. You can use a disappearing ink pen to draw the 10 x 10 blocks or you can sew basting stitches in. The stitches are removed after you stitch the 10 x 10 block. Gridding helps you keep you place while stitching as it's easier to count the grid and stitches.

Oh, okay, thank you for your help.

I don't grid, but I do find that it's easier to do large projects if I copy the pattern and highlight the completed stitches so I can see what I've done easily.

This looks like such a fun project - let us know how it goes!

I like the idea of copying the pattern and then highlighting the part that I've completed. I haven't purchased it yet. I will let you know how it goes.
