Stitching over one instead of two
I love this Santa! However, I don't want such a large finished project. I am wondering i would lose any detail, or it wouldn't be as nice if I stitched this over one instead of 2. Any thoughts?

It would be just gorgeous if you stitched over one....much prettier than stitching over two. If you have the eyes and patience, go for it.

That is exactly what I would do. I just finished one that I did on black 25 four fabric, that I used two strands, over one stitch. It turned out beautiful! It was the fifth one I have done over one, with a higher count Fabric, & have three more planned .
Just make sure you have a great light source, to see the tiny holes, & you will be fine.

I believe these are meant to be stitched over one on the 25 count evenweave. The over two in the description is an error.

Thanks! Hopefully the eyes will hold out 😆

When you stitch this over 1 on 25 count, how many threads do you use and do you do a half cross stitch or a full cross stitch?

You would use one strand of the floss.

I have seen it done both ways...either looks lovely. Some stitchers find the full cross too heavy, so do all half crosses or tent stitch. Personally, I like the tapestry effect of the fuller crosses.

I still use two strands over one on it. In fact, I did a Kinkade on 32 ct with two over one, & it turned out beautiful. That one had half crosses in it too. I like the effect that using two over one gives. My eyes get tired, so I believe I will only go 25 or 28 ct over one from now on.
Never did a pattern on the higher count that had any quarter stitches though, only full, or half crosses. I believe on that small count, you could get away without doing quarter stitches, & it would not be noticeable. That's just my opinion though.
