Kit
I have never done counted cross stitch. Have done crewel and other needlewrok. Would this be difficult for a beginner and does the kit include thread etc.

I don't think it would be too hard. I would say give it a try and if it seems to hard, set it aside do some smaller ones to help you practice and then pick the other one back up again. Nothing ventured, nothing gained!
Happy stitching and good luck!

Hi,
This is a KIT, so it will include the pattern, instructions, floss, and probably a needle. You will need a hoop. I would recommend a plastic hoop, because they are easy to wash and keep clean. You can find hoops here under "cross stitch supplies" listed in box to your left, second from the bottom. If you tap on the TITLE located underneath the picture of the pattern, it will take you to a description of the kit.
Is it too hard for a beginner? I don't think so, especially since you said you have done crewel work with all
The different stitches. This design does not have many colors so that helps. Keep in mind that as a beginner you may have questions. So I encourage you to come on this chat and ask questions, there are a lot of stitchers with all levels of experience with some stitchers having 40+ years of stitching experience. We all enjoy helping beginners becauase it promotes and sustains this type of needlework. As your experience increases you will come to love doing counted crossstitch and after a while you will become "addicted"!!😀
So welcome to the Chat!

What size hoop would you recoomend.

have the kit ordered so I may as well get the hoop and give it a shot what size would you recommend

I would go with an 8 inch hoop; you might consider the 10" hoop but I worry about the project being 10 1/2" wide and though you will get material a bit bigger, I wouldn't want where the hoop can't have enough material to hang on to
