Birthday Present for Hubby
My husband is a fanatic for squirrels. So, I made this as a birthday present for him. I'd never used perforated paper before but I've decided I REALLY like it because I can work on the piece without having to put it in a frame. Had a little trouble at first doing the full-cross on the petite seed beads, but I managed to figure it out and, by the time I was finished with the entire project, I could do them almost as quickly as a regular cross-stitch. After I trimmed the excess paper, I backed it with felt by gluing it to the felt and then trimming just outside the trimmed paper. I STRONGLY recommend that you get a good, sharp craft knife to be able to get some of the inner curves when trimming the perforated paper. I think it looks really good backed with felt and you can pick a color of the felt that highlights some of the bead work (I picked a nice forest green).

Tenryuu, it is very sweet and adorable and I am sure he loves it. I have never done bead work before but you make me want to try it. Nice job! 😃

Aw, that's cute. Do you think that he could trap the squirrel that hangs out in my backyard? I have oak trees coming up all over where it buried the acorns. He would even get to keep it! :)

How lovely and it sounds like you had great fun making it. Now you can get on to Christmas tree ornaments, Easter bunnies......the scope is limited only by your imagination.

It looks great! I may have to give perforated paper stitching a try. I saw some easter eggs I liked but shied away from it because I never did it before.
