Birthday Kitty Cup
Has anyone done this pattern? I want to do it for a friends birthday in August but not sue I can get it done it time. Looks pretty easy with full cross stitches only and little outlining to do. I would like to do the whole series for her. I especially like the Halloween one and the ladybug one! Even though I am more of a dog person than a cat person! But she loves cats and would love these!

26,500+ stitches, average 150 stitches a day = 177 days+

My my VCESS! That # is daunting!

I also noticed that this pattern requires 55 different color threads. With the pattern being $15.95 and the threads (55) costing me another $0.54 each this could get pricey. Maybe I will switch out some of the colors for ones I have already in my stash.

Yikes, VCESS, you might as well say six months! LOL

ladyj, this is a sizable project. I don't think that you'll be able to make the August deadline. Unless you take leave of absence and stitch all day! :) I don't think that it will be that costly because you probably already have most of the colors required in your stash.
It's cute but I'd look for something smaller. You probably have a good six weeks. Don't forget the framing usually takes about 2 weeks.
Good luck.
PS Or you could present her with it next year!

I agree on that Texas Stitcher. Don't think I will even try and attempt to get this one done.I will stress too much! Perhaps I will do the Christmas Kitty tea cup one for her instead and skip one for her birthday this year and get started on it earlier for next year! Thanks for the advice VCESS and Texas Stitcher. I value your wisdom!

Such a sweet kitty. If you have never done an Artecy pattern before you are in for a treat. Patterns are several pages long BUT -- the symbols are very clear. Remember that the more pages there are the larger he grid will be. Many of her patterns are cover-all. To save stitches you eliminate a lot of stitching by not doing the background or using one of those pretty tinted fabrics. Also, there is lots of shading. One of those balloons might use five or six different flosses. You could cut down on the number of flosses and constant rethreading your needle by just using one solid color per balloon or star. The finished project will still be adorable. Remember -- your friend will have another birthday next year. Give her a picture of what you are stitching and send her a monthly (or weekly) update of your progress. In the meantime -- start saving your nickels for the framing!

HAVE A STITCHING DAY

You could save a LOT of stitching by using a white fabric, outlining the pot and hat, and stitching the designs on the pot, hat...You know, keep the design, skip the white...I wouldn't skip the white on the kitty, though... :) or the cupcake...
