keep friends close at christmas
I saw this pattern and was wondering what level it is and if the stitches are full stitches only or do they contain half and quarter stitches.

I have "inherited" about eight or ten Stoney Creek patterns, none of which I have stitched, Most of them are "leaflet style" meaning they are folded with the pattern being continuous, not multiple pages.

They are cute patterns. I don't stitch them. There is a LOT OF BACK STITCH. There are 1/2 and 1/4 stitches Some have blended threads and also use some specialty threads, like Krenik.

I would consider them intermediate skills. Not advanced projects but you do have to pay careful attention to what you are doing. Not for a beginner. I would definitely recommend having the pattern enlarged before starting to stitch. Keep the original in a safe place in case you want to make another copy.

THIS IS NOT A NEGATIVE REVIEW. STONEY CREEK PATTERNS ARE NOT FOR ME.

RETIRED 001 -- FYI -- you can remove your duplicate posts by going back to your original message(s) and press EDI.

You probably thought the original post took too long to post and pressed enter again. I've done that many times.

HAPPY STITCHING

I don't know, Nancye...looking at it up close, the quarter/half stitches look like they are kept to a minimum--just for shaping eyes and noses... Backstitching is a reasonable amount...but then, I don't mind backstitching (I use a double running stitch) and I'm hardly ever in a hurry to finish projects...so the the things that might slow you down a little just aren't an issue. Outside of being a little adventuresome with 20 colors, it just doesn't look that difficult TO ME. :)

Retired, not knowing how much experience you have and how "adventuresome" you are, it's difficult for me to recommend, or not. If you're brand new, try something smaller, fewer colors. Save this pattern till you're confident in your basic skills. But If you have skills and you're trying your wings a bit...with a little care and time, you might try it.

Keep in mind, I've always done whatever "grabbed me"...No fear. :) I might grouse/gripe/cry/whine, but it's all good for experience. :)

AND THIS IS REALLY CUTE! :)

Looks easy to me. It's a cute pattern. I love snowmen because they make think WINTER and cool temps.

I agree with Nancye and VCESS, it all depends on your skill level and sense of adventure.
