Perforated Paper
I am considering this pattern and hope that someone can explain the advantages of using perforated paper as opposed to fabric when making ornaments. Is the paper difficult to stitch on?
Thanks! Mary

The paper ornaments I have seen are very pretty. I have bought paper kits only to do them on aida. For me, and I am just speaking for me, I prefer fabric. For me, fabric is more forgiving than paper. With fabric you can wash it and if you make a mistake (yes, me) it can be frogged. I love the way paper looks, how the beads stand out so much better but I've been known to make a mistake (or two). I like holding a hoop so for even small ornaments I use a hoop with excess aida. Those are very pretty ornaments and why not try the paper for once and see how YOU like it. That's the most important thing. Pam

Hi marym,

I have done some projects on perforated paper and it is super easy to work with. It's very stiff so you don' t need a hoop. Just try not to bend it while you are stitching. I folded mine to find the center and it ripped, so you need to use a ruler to find the center. Other than that issue, I loved working on it and then I was able to just put it in a frame. No stretching necessary. It stayed very stiff the whole time I worked on it. I also taught someone how to stitch and it was on perforated paper and she loved it. Her project was sugar skull absolutely covered in beads. It came out gorgeous.! Good luck and have fun!

I've done several projects on paper, and have more waiting. Be careful if you need to frog, but a small piece of scotch tape on the back side can mend a little rip. I trim the edges so they don't snag my threads, or use painters' tape.
