Stitching Around a Respirator
Oh, my... the air out there. Environment Canada says on a scale of 1 - 10 with 10 being the worst air quality possible, we are now at a 10. There's a high risk advisory for people with breathing issues right now, so I've been wearing a respirator mask to stitch (and do everything else) for a couple of days. My eyes are so itchy and watery that I can hardly see to stitch but the breathing is so hard I can barely do anything else but sit!! I have pretty much had my asthma under control for years but not right now.

We have a lot of fires in the area. Any good vibes or thoughts for some relief would be awesome. Til then, I'll be here in my particulate mask trying to survive!!

OMG, craftydivakat, that looks terrible! I don't know how you re breathing at all. Prayers and good thoughts for you and everyone living in that area. I pray the fires are put out soon and your quality of life can be improved. I would be sitting, stitching (if my eyes allowed it) and not going outside unless absolutely necessary!

What part of Canada?

I'm in Alberta, just outside of Calgary. That picture is (or should be!) the Calgary skyline this morning. This is the story from yesterday that talks about our air quality: https://calgaryherald.com/news/local-news/air-quality-deemed-high-risk-in-calgary-as-wildfires-burn

I totally understand! I am in BC and they say there are over 500 fires burning in our province right now. A state of emergency was declared yesterday. The haze is starting to lighten up for us on the coast, but I know the central province is still pretty bad! Hang in there and hope it gets better for you!

OMG we have a lingering haze in our state for a while and all of us that have allergies are affected but nothing like what you have. I hope and pray it moves out and you can get back to a normal life again.

Oh goodness, that's awful. I've been there with breathing issue, but never in such a bad environment as this! Please take care of you and yours as best as you can!! Hope relief is expected soon.

Hi craftydivakat, I'm in Winnipeg and we have the smoke as well. The sun is a bright red from it. Sending thoughts of rain (no lightening) your way so you get some relief from the smoke. Take care.

Pray your air quality gets back to normal very soon!
That looks so bad! Hot air rises and so does the smoke so if you have any way of putting yourself in a lower level, it may help. Stay in touch!!

Golly! Take care of yourself! People not used to breathing problems can get themselves into a fix in a heartbeat, literally. Have a just-in-case bag ready...prep a bit at a time. If you have a small room that you can close off and have an air purifier, USE IT! Maybe stay in there to get a bit of relief. Prayers are with you...be well and safe! 😊

I totally understand your itchy eyes and everything else. I live south of Seattle and the local news said the air quality here is worse than Beijing. It helps a lot to stay inside as much as possible.
