I am officially an idiot
I decided instead of cross stitching today I would help DH out. I always feel bad watching him mow the lawn by himself, which is about 2 acres, while I just sit, the neighbors do help when they are home but I don't feel like I am contributing. Me being me I went out while he was mowing and asked him to teach me how to drive the riding lawn mower. It is a big one it makes a 60 inch cut and has those little bar thingys you use to make it turn, stop or whatever. I figured easy, no problem. Yep bad, bad decision. Left is right, right is left, forwards is backwards and on and on, plus there is apparently a cut line which a person has to follow and I never did figure that out. So picture a 110lb woman built like a scarecrow bouncing around on this 1000lb mower trying to find the cut line with grass, bugs and god know what else blowing up into her face trying to drive straight(didn't happen I think a toddler could have cut a straighter line 〰️) at a snails pace mowing a lawn, that was me. DH hubby filmed it and if it shows up on Facebook his dinner may not be done right if at all tonight. I need a shower.🤐

LOL!!! 😂
Go get em Nettie! What a picture! Glad your DH filmed it, it’s proof you’re contributing....Hope you warned him about not plastering it all over Facebook and it’s relationship to dinner before you went to shower!
You go girl!! Keep at it! The more experience you have using it, the better you’ll get!!

I am not sure I want to do it again. Who knew the amount of upper body strength it takes to steer those things, my arms feel like jello, plus I think some other things on my upper body, from all the vibration and jostling around, can now reach my toes...lol

Too funny! I let my husband do all the grass cutting, I do all of the weed whipping, that way I look like I’m helping!

My limits are usually reached when I step outside! So glad that the neighbor mows the lawn. DH is allergic to grasses. If I go outside to do anything, he will quickly appear to "help" me! I then reliably say that I need to get back to my stitching and he waves me goodbye so he can take over while I return safely to my stitchy throne!

Lawn mowing is fun! I'd rather mow than do housework any day. I don't think our rider is quite as big as yours, Nettie, and it has a regular steering wheel instead of those "little bar thingys." We have 76 acres, most of it in pine trees, but we only mow around the house, down the quarter mile driveway, and along the road. As we've been pretty dry (no rain in the last month or so), I can relate to whatever is blowing up in your face, in my case it's clouds of dust and dirt. I think you will enjoy it once you've done it a time or two. It's the snowblowing in the winter that I leave up to DH, I'd rather shovel a short walkway.

I am paying for that mowing today. My arms hurt so bad I was barely able to crack an egg to make breakfast and my back good lord.😣

Well that’s it no more mowing for you! Hope you’re feeling better soon.

My wife and I sold our house after 44 years and moved to an apartment. We love the place and I no longer have to mow the lawn, clean gutters, seal decks, etc. I don't miss it.

Nettie,
Strap and tape up whatever should be above your waist,
Smother yourself in Icy Hot, take some Tylenol and let your DH know he needs to cook dinner, so you can find some relief. If he can crack some eggs and burn up some toast- even that can be a meal.
