Wanted to know what the age range is on this unicorn , because I want to have my 7 year old granddaughter , do her first cross stitch project

I’d go after what her favourite colours and themes are and then see if you could match them with an appropriate chart. I started my granddaughter off on a watermelon slice. I don’t think she’s done anything more since. I think the iPhone won over the needle. Kids eh!

It might be better if she chooses her project..let her be "invested" from the beginning. Open a wish list for her, select a few appropriate patterns or kits--don't overwhelm her with choice-- but a good many of fantasy, flowers, animals, stuffed animals. 😊

That’s a good idea VCESS. I couldn’t do that due to only being with her in the U.K. for three days before I went back to Denmark.

Sounds like you were on the right track, just short on time! 😊

I agree with VCESS. Help her invest and control the pattern she picks out herself. A great opportunity for you and her to shop together for ‘her’ pattern. Or if you can’t go to a mortar and brick store, have the two of you look at some of the designs (like the one of unicorn) on Everything Cross Stitch. You are on the right road keeping the project simple - only 3-4 colors, a simple design that she won’t get frustrated with and she feels a sense of accomplishment when she completes it.
I just started teaching my 5-year old grand-daughter how to do some basic stitches when she came to visit; her and I worked together for 3 days and she is absolutely in love with making stitches! :)
