From the picture it looks like a cover all pattern. If that is the case you wouldn’t see the material or color of it.

Hey, sousamarch! Thank you for posting this photo. I've never heard of Paine Free Crafts before, but they have some really interesting things to stitch. I'll be checking them out further. I'd really hate to find this guy sitting on (or in) my beer mug, however!

Even though this is a cover all, when doing large dark areas like the background here, you might want to use a dark fabric. Not necessarily black, though that would work, but a darker grey or somesuch, something not bright white so you don't get the show through. Alternately you might want to use three strands instead of two while doing the background. I've just had issues with this in the past, hoping to help :)

Good to see you back crafty. Did the air clear up enough for you to breathe? That haze in your pic looked pretty bad.
I agree with crafty of using a different color fabric color other than white or antique white. Maybe a light gray color? And she’s dead-on about using 3 strands for good coverage; I’ve a problem on my current WIP with see-thru of the fabric in areas of dark floss colors.

xstitcher522- This is only one of the ‘alcohol’ dragon patterns out there...there is a Tequila one and the dragon looks like a worm....
