Christmas Toys
I just completed this project, and it turned out really well - am just getting it framed now. The only thing I didn’t understand was why they made the bottom part below the window narrower than the top, so that when you put a mat or frame on the left, up against the Christmas tree, there was a big plain space on the right, or an uneven amount showing on both sides. I ended up taking out all my stitches and extending the bottom to match the top, and then added a few balloons on a string coming out of the toy bag to fill in the gap. (Don’t know if I’ve explained this very well, but if you see the pattern, you’ll know what I mean). Otherwise it is a really cute picture with so much detail, and hope my little great niece & nephew enjoy it!)

I see what you mean, cynmcollins. It looks like the window sill to the right of the boy's arm was partially omitted. I think what you did was the correct way to handle it. I would have also extended the side frame down, and tied it in with the trim along the bottom. It is an adorable pattern. I really like it and I bet it was fun to stitch. I'm sure your great niece and nephew will love it!

Thanks - it really was fun to stitch. I did as Susiebelle suggested and extended the frame all down the side too - like you said, it tied it all together. Thanks for your comments!

Now that you fixed it, just an FYI....
Back in the ‘old days’ many store fronts would have the display window and below it would be a decorative panel that was part of the store front of the building and it wouldn’t be as wide as the display window itself. :)
Beautiful job and lovely pattern! My compliments to you!

That’s really interesting - I just wish they had put something beside the toy bag. I even tried a little puppy sitting there, but couldn’t find a pattern small enough, and since they were standing outside, it had to blend in. Maybe someone else will stitch it and they can let me know what they did. Thanks for the info.!
