Can you advise me on the best way to clean cross stitch samplers?

I put my pattern in a plastic dish pan (only used for this) and add tepid water and a few drops of Dawn liquid. I stir up the bubbles and put in the pattern and let it sit for awhile. Then I rinse it in cold running water until the soap is gone and hang it up to dry with clean clothes pins.
It has always worked for me..good luck.....

I will suggest the same thing for washing but would do lay flat in case of water marks learned my lesson once.

This is just me, and only me. Everybody does it differently. When I get through, I too swish it with dawn in the container and also same container every time, then cold rinse to get the dawn completely out. Then I roll it up in a white towel to get excess water out. Meanwhile am heating my iron on low. Unroll the sampler, put it face down. lightly iron the stitched back of the sampler, then while almost dry let it rest til totally dry. You will be surprised how the stitching looks when totally dry. But this is just how I do it- Peace. Pam

I clean my finished projects a lot differently than the others. When I am finished I put it in my washing machine on gentle cycle and add Purex and wash. After washing I hang it up with plastic pants hangers to air dry. After it is dry I iron it and add a piece of thin fusible interfacing ironed on the back to cover the stitching. Whether I frame it myself or take it to Hobby Lobby the interfacing protects the back of the stitching and makes it lay better.

Hope this helps. Everyone does theirs differently so you will have a lot of choices.

I don't think I would add bleach...unless there had been some sort of blood-letting...golly. 😊. Don't mind me...I've been streaming Fargo...yeah.
