colors to start off with
I want to buy the floss as I go, as it's too expensive to buy all at once.
Which colors should I get first, If I want to start at the top left side? I want to start with 20-25 skeins.

Thanks in advance!

Hi! There are a lot of colors you will need, so if you are working across the top, count and write down each color in the 10x10 square pattern blocks until you get to the number of floss colors that you plan on buying. Order those colors and start stitching those squares. When you have done as many blocks as you have thread for, repeat the process. Don't start stitching the next area until you have all the floss colors for that area. This is how I would do it if I was in that situation. Other people may have different ,even better ideas how to handle this. Wishing you the best with your beautiful project. Karen

Disclaimer: I just eyed my chart and looked up the symbols. I may have missed some, especially if they don't have a ton of stitches on the first page.

impossible to answer unless you have the pattern in front of you. I notice that crafty diva is going to look at her pattern and give you some guidance.

Start by looking at the suggested supply list. You probably already have many of the flosses in your personal stash. Then look at the colors that list more than one skein of a particular color and get one of each of those. After that just start at the top of the list and chose as many as you can afford to start with.

Something to consider. The price of floss will be going up in the near future due to DMC raising their prices. Plus, you will be paying a second shipping cost. The shipping is reasonable on this site but it needs to be figured into what you will be paying for the entire project.

Not to be a downer on this but I tried doing a pattern a while ago and only bought what I thought I would need for floss to start, it didn't work out very well. I ended up scrapping it, because I got frustrated with not having all the floss needed to do what I wanted to do. I ended up saving my money and bought everything when i could afford it, i put $10.00, sometimes more and at times less, in a jar with the patterns name on it, everytime i got paid and was able to buy the rest of what i needed in 4 months time. My advice is to save up and buy it all at once it will save you tons of frustration not to mention money in shipping costs, the pattern isn't going anywhere and will be there when you can afford it, this is just my experience and opinion.
