Grrrrrriding
Is how Iโ€™ve spent most of my day, and still not done. I would be farther along but I canโ€™t count, and am straight line challenged.
Taking a break and watching What About Bob? Baby steps...

Jaj, what pattern are you grinding for? I don't grid because I taught myself how to cross stitch and didn't know that was something people do, it was also before the internet and all the helpful tips and videos came into play. I always just started in the center and just stitched, until this year. I bought my first large pattern and used one of the useful tips from one of the other stitches and started in the upper left, didn't know that was something that could be done either.๐Ÿ˜ฎ I have learned a lot since I joined this group.๐Ÿ˜

Boo Butterfly! I had never heard of gridding either, till here. Itโ€™s a pita to do, but it kept me sane (debatable) when I did the black lab puppy!

Jaj, I am impatiently waiting for boo butterfly.๐Ÿค I know I will dance in our driveway when it gets here...lol So now for the rapid fire questions, you don't have to answer any or all of them. Is it as intricate and beautiful as it looks? Did you make any changes to it? I did order some specialty floss for it. What type and color of fabric did you choose? Sorry I am just so excited for you.๐Ÿ˜€

Iโ€™d say it looks challenging! I may need to enlarge the pattern a bit, but I think it might just be me needing new glasses. I got the Haunted fabric, 16 count. I did order some glow in the dark floss, for the eyes, and web. It will be interesting to see everyone WIPs.

Thank you for answering my questions.๐Ÿ˜Š I am more impatient now...lol I ordered stoney point fabric 16 count Aida. I am hoping it works out. Kristi said it was dark grey but also had the blues and green in it.

Bob? Where's Bob? I love that movie! I regularly "catch" Tourette's! You never know! ๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜… Bill Murray was great, but Richard Dreyfus was PERFECT. My hand puppet said! ๐Ÿ˜„

Hey, Kid! Are you doing the real gridding? Or one of the weird, made up conglomerate grids...I call them that because I can't understand how they help anybody...but guess it's what each individual needs! No offense, I'm the odd one who doesn't adjust! Good luck on that counting thing! And the straight line! Is your Haunted fabric gorgeous? ๐Ÿ˜„

Jaj I feel for you. I tried gridding once and decided it just wasn't worth all the time it took to do it. I taught myself to cross stitch 30 years ago when there wasn't gridding so no need to change. The time I spent gridding that one time I could have been stitching. I actually didn't finish the gridding but gave up because of all the time it took.

I do know that some people swear by it though. Each person has their own style. Good thing there are no "stitching police". Enjoy your stitching.

No gridding for me, either. I've been stitching just fine this long without it, so why start now?? And it takes too long to do, time I could spend stitching. I may resort to marking up my patterns with a marker at some time in the future, but, so far, I don't do that, either...yet.

I started gridding with my first coverall...the first 100 square had 27 different colors...the first 400 were impossible...I kept getting lost and whined in here and some lovely soul suggested gridding. If I don't have to frog, it's well worth the little time it takes...with practice, you get faster, just like anything else. The first time was the longest, of course, but it made everything go smoother, quicker, and I was saved... The pattern was Mystic Stitch Starry Night. My next was a Fractal and the only reason there was a second, was because of gridding. ๐Ÿ˜Š I grid everything because stuff goes quicker, no frogging, easy to pick up after switching projects that may have sat for 7-12 months. Happy for those that don't have a need to do it, good for you! ๐Ÿ˜Š And I try hard not to be annoying when you guys whine about frogging. ๐Ÿ˜

Ahhhhhh, but what would cross Stitching be if there wasnโ€™t a little _itching and whining involved........maybe quieter, but not as interesting as to what words make the paint begin to melt off the walls......
