fabric size
Hello all, this is the first time I am going to try such a big project but very excited about it. in reading the project information I'm not sure if the fabric size is for over 2 or over 1? I will be using the everweave 25. Any suggesting on attempting this project would be greatly appreciated since most of my equipment is for smaller projects.
Thanks in advance

This one is on my wish list, and I'm hoping to buy it in the next year or so. The description lists it as - 25 count evenweave (over 1)

So sounds like over one. It's super intricate and detailed and just so pretty, so I'm not surprised, but it will take a long time, so be patient. If it were me, I'd need to have a few smaller projects to "break into" along the way for that satisfaction of finishing something. Even if it's a bookmark or Christmas ornament, I like to switch back and forth when doing bigger projects to keep me from getting frustrated. I try to go for something in a different colorway - for example I have two big projects going, Egyptian Sampler which is mostly blue and gold, and Sweet Remembrance which is mostly purple and yellow. Helps me somehow to have something very different to look at sometimes!

Good luck :)

Wow, that's beautiful! I've never seen this one before. And 85 colors! If I were a cat fan, this would be on my wish list. I would put it on a scroll frame and either table top stand or a floor stand. And you're probably going to need a bright lamp with a daylight bulb. Your eyes are probably better than mine, but I would consider magnification of some type, also. Otherwise, go for it! If this is your first time stitching a large project, it will definitely be a learning experience for you. Have fun!
Also, an a further note, did you read the 4 reviews of this project under Customer Reviews? They might answer any questions you have, too.

Deciding the count of fabric is the first thing...I have one 16, 2 of 14's, and a 25, 2 over 1. The 2 over 1, 25 ct. is a challenge for me...but I'm an old woman with bunches of challenges. 😊I
I make a couple of copies, enlarging when needed.
After I started my first all-over, about 500 stitches in, I decided to do my first "gridding", with the R&S red plastic line. Now, I grid everything. Enables me to work lots of projects without mixup, no loss of momentum, NO FROGGING!
Floss is in labeled individual bags, threaded in order, on 3-in rings. I buy enough needles that I can leave floss threaded on the needle and simply put it back in its labeled bag. Some people but thread all their needles with each color...I thread them as I need them. I thread multiple needles when there is masses of one color working...also when blended colors are used. I mark my pattern copy with a couple different color highlighters. Recently, I began marking a planned map, marking on top of the first color when they are finished.
I have an ex-large magnetic board for the pattern, an Ott floor lamp, flip up magnifiers for my readers, an understanding bunch of family and friends when I'M BUSY!
Good luck! Enjoy it! I have this pattern and The Painted Cat from the Johnson series...I started but jumped patterns. 😊

Do they make scroll frames that are adjustable what are you thoughts on table top and floor types. and what about Q-snap? As you can see I have been doing quite a bit of research trying to figure out what would be best to use for my first BIG project.

I have had my eye on this design, but haven't ordered it . I may have to get it for my younger daughter. Her family just acquired a new member last spring. Her name is Lucy. My daughter really wanted to get a Maine Coon Cat, but they got Lucy. She is very attached to my grandson. So I thought maybe it should be in her Christmas box. I make those for both of my daughters. They like to sit side by side to open them and compare what they got. But I think that I like this design more than the others by Johnson.

haaymom, scroll frames come in a lot of different sizes, but adjustable? Not very. They have a couple of holes where you can reposition the distance the rods are apart, but that's about it. You can also use different size rods in the side bars. Q-Snaps are my favorites for hand held stitching. They come in many sizes and you can mix and match them to make the size you need. As far as table top stands vs. floor stands, that's personal preference (isn't everything??). With this project being 19x22, I think it was, I'd use my table top. This is an old photo of my Girl with a Pearl Earring, showing my table top scroll frame set-up. It works great for me. My floor stand I use for really large projects.

I use American Dream scroll frames...they have a myriad of sizes for rods and stretcher bars. I prefer 8" or 10" stretcher bars. They perfected a Velcro system for the rods and you apply a Velcro tape to the ends of your fabric...beautiful hold. I prefer not to use a stand, floor or table...the reach for table becomes uncomfortable for me, but the perfect stand is coming... 😊
As for q-snaps...I detest them. I don't like the wear on the fabric from too tight clamps, and putting something between the fabric and clamp just makes it tighter! Also, they are too big around for my damaged left hand to hold for very long. There are MANY advocates of the Qs in here, I would never hold that against them. LOL

Well, I ordered this design for my younger daughter for Christmas, plus I got a Mystery Box! I am very excited.
