A MUST HAVE
How did I ever function without this marvellow aid! I use it a lot. You can fasten even the shortest threads with it. I highly recommend it......star de-tailor.......👍

Mary, I don't understand what it does and how you use it. I definitely be interested to know. Pam

Pam it’s for fastening a thread or threads when they are too short to fasten in the usual way by threading them through your stitches. You thread the star de-tailor through the stitches and then you put your thread through the wire loop and pull it through. I’m not very good at explaining this so if anybody can help me out pls do. Today I used it when I found two stitches too many at the end of a row so instead of frogging I just cut one and was able to remove them and then fasten with the SDT.

That little tool looks so handy. Many times, I have tried to finish up an area and gotten down to barely any thread left and then had to try to end the thread. As I slip the needle under the stitches, the tail keeps falling out of the eye. There have even been instances where I had to frog a few stitches in order to have enough thread to finish it off. Then I had to start a new piece of thread for just a couple of stitches. HATE THAT!!! Where did you get the star de-tailor? I might be needing one of those. Thanks!

So glad to read your post Bruce. I was afraid that my awkward explanation would be as clear as mud, but you got it. I got mine from a shop in Canada but I saw that you can get them at 123stitch.com.

Thanks for the info, Mary. Yes, I found it at 123stitch.com. I think that i am going to have to make a purchase. I'm sure that it will be money well spent. If your explanation was "clear as mud", then I must be fluent in 'mud'. I got it right off as I have been in that situation many times and wished that there was something to help out. You are a lifesaver and I don't mean the candy. ;-)

Mary, I have a similar tool called "My Favorite Dololly" by Mordina Enterprises. I did not know it, but apparently this little tool was out of production for a while, but is now back. It works the same way as the Star Detailor, but is in two separate pieces that can be unhooked from one another. I've had it for years and it's a lifesaver, for sure!
Sorry this photo is a tad out of focus!

I have had one for years. Talk about necessity being the mother of invention! Were it not for nifty tools and things like Fray-Check, my stitching life would be much more frustrating!

I loved the look of yours Susiebelle. The auld things have so much more charm. I Googled Dololly and found it to mean 'thingamijig' very spot on don't you think......or we could use my Danish word Fidus.....from an earlier post ha ha.

Definitely a fidus, Mary!
