Full and 1/4 Stitch One Symbol
I have a cross-stitch pattern calling for a “full and 1/4 stitch” under the same/single symbol. It doesn’t specify what this means. If it means do 2 stitches in the same box, then I don’t know if it matters which stitch is done first- the full or the 1/4. But it might mean do one stitch that is a 1/4 stitch longer than a full stitch. The end effect should look like a solid thick bar there. Does anyone know if it matters? I’ve never seen this on a pattern before. Thank you.

Kelley is the 1/4 a lighter shade? Have seen this before. Normally in eyes where you make the full x than the 1/4 in a lighter shade to look like a “glint”.

Nope. It is just black. Here is the legend picture.

Kelley, I've never seen this before, either, except as 113kevans says, as a glint in an eye. Normally a quarter stitch is shorter than a full stitch, not longer to extend a stitch. I'll be interested in seeing if anyone has any ideas about this.

Kelley can you give us a screenshot of the chart showing it?

Maybe it's done to more completely cover the aida? Looks like part of the letters and tower (base for example) are all black. Is that where the key has it done?

Hi Kelley! I have had patterns that have the full stitch take up the whole square on the chart and the 1/4 stitches take up the 1/4 of the square on the pattern of where it goes. See attached picture. I hope this helps!!
