I haven't stitched this but I have been always today you can do anything one stitch at a time!

Carissa is right. It is just one stitch at a time. You can do it. I've found it may take me longer as I check and double check the count. It definitely is not out of your league. There are cross stitch magazines that will tell you how long it will take and what the skill level is. Phooey!!!!!! Last month the publisher said that the pattern would take 5 hours. In their dreams. It will take at least twice that time. So I say go for it if you like it!!! Pam

Thanks for the encouragement. I was wondering if you can do this on 16ct and what type of stitches.
Thanks, Pam

I think that the background of greys and tans are just in the special hand-dyed fabric by Picture This Plus! That might help with that fearful part of "I can't possibly do this!" I just tell myself that I really do like this design. There is no pleasure like doing something for yourself. We often stitch for others and then as we get older, we realize that we have saved so little of our hobby for ourselves! I am 72. I won't get any younger. After all, the clock keeps going and 72 will become 73 in just a few months.
My mind tells me that I am too old to worry about the thing that gives me the most joy...my stitching. Just get together what you will need and start. Have doubts? Right here to have access to hundreds of stitchers who love to share their thoughts with you! Just do that one stitch to begin and off you go!

Hi, crusin60! I am in agreement with Carissa, Pam and Su. One stitch at a time, easy peasy! I don't think it's out of your league at all. I think it will be a lot easier to stitch than you think! I also agree with Su, the background is PTP's hand-dyed fabric, and is not stitched. There is no reason it can't be stitched on 16ct. If you stitched it on 14ct over one that would make it the same size as listed for the 28ct over two. I would use at least two strands, maybe more. Whatever you think looks best. Test it out on a scrap piece of fabric, full crosses over one square. I think this would be a great pattern to start the New Year with, and I'm sure you will enjoy stitching it. I love how the red of the cardinals and mittens really pops in this design. If you decide to go for it, please keep us posted on your progress!

I looked up the fabric on 123 stitch, and you guys are right, the back round is the fabric, and not stitched. Guess what went on my wish list!!!

I ordered it and I have a friend who has been stitching for about 35 years and she would guide me along!

You can do this!! Like a few fellow stitchers have said, one stitch at a time. My very first cross stitch took me 2 years to do! I also was around 14 when I did it. I have one that I have been working on for over 10 years. I found it in a box just recently. I had forgotten all about it.
