WIP .... LHN “Summer ABC’S”
I’m enjoying stitching this....
I made a few changes in the floss I used ( Hark!! Do I hear police sirens?....Nope, no crossstitch police banging on my door).
Changes though you can’t see them in photo:
Where the letter ‘F’ for Fireflies is, I used Kreinik ‘gold’ blending fillament for the 7 fireflies AND the period above the letter ‘i’ ... they look like they are twinkling, like fireflies seem to do on a summer evening....
For the Word, “Ice Cream” I used a Kreinik blending fillament with a ‘pearl’ look to hopefully give a cold, icy sparkle to both words..
Forgive the fabric wrinkles in the pic, it’s the 32 count linen I purposely put into an uneven position for the pic in the ‘Linen’ chat thread.

Nice work! I'm sure your personal touches really stand out.

Thank you...though I stitched it with increasing frustration of following my ‘idea’ when it came to the actual stitching with the blending fillament..not my most favorite ‘thread’...
I seem to have this bad habit of ‘naming my own poison,’

Looking good, Bermuda. Blending filament is a pain to work with, but the results are worth it...most of the time. I try to avoid it as much as possible, however. 🙄

Love this! How neat to be able to change things out and do your own thing. I wish my computer would blow the picture up so I could see it better.

Bermuda what are those white things on the side of your fabric? I am working (trying) on a larger piece using a hoop but I don't know what to do with the extra fabric to keep it out of my way. You would all laugh to see the cloths pins I use trying to clip the fabric back!

Bermuda, your work is always special. I have not used blending filament yet but I plan to. I love when we stitchers make changes to our pattern. Cruisin Pam, I am using two clothes pins right now because I had to roll up my fabric. Pam

Cruising60,
Those ‘white things’ you see in the picture are the plastic clamps that hold my fabric taut to the round Q-Snap plastic frame underneath. The picture shows an 11” x 17” Q-Snap frame with its clamps. You center the frame under your material, press the clamps down on each side of the frame, then twist the clamps on the frame to tighten the fabric. Q-Snaps come in different sizes, so when you get enough of them, you can make different frame sizes and they don’t leave fabric ‘hoop’ marks. I believe that Everything Cross Stitch carries them.
Also, to enlarge the picture I posted, did you tap on the small icon of a mountain with the sun- it’s next to the ‘reply’ button- and when the picture comes up, put your thumb and forefinger on the picture and spread your finger and thumb to enlarge picture? This works on an I-Pad or a I-Phone, maybe on your computer screen. :)

Pamelastine11 and Cruising -
Close pins are a good idea! I’ve been using the snack bag
Clips ( see picture). They are plastic, have a magnet so they adhere to the metal refrigerator, have a metal coil that gives them the ability to grip. are great for holding up the rolled fabric on my projects but... one of them worked it’s way off the corner of rolled fabric I was stitching on and the coil snapped it’s edges together and flew past my
Face....that why the clothes pins are better. I wouldn’t get any workman’s comp if the ‘flying chip clip’ hit me either

Hey guys! Instead of using snack bag clips or clothes pins, why not try these? They are called Grime Guards and they fit over your Q-Snaps. You just tuck your excess fabric inside and it stays clean and out of your way.

This is an old photo of Girl with a Pearl Earring which I finally finished a couple of days ago!

Where do you get your grime guards? Regarding the qsnaps what size do you order? I would love to the the "girl" with the pearl earring. I just know she came out beautiful. Pam
