Dear customer service, I ordered this kit a few days ago. My question: I am taking a long flight to Tokyo to visit my sister on 3/26/19. Is there a way to do the stitching on the plane? What about the needle? Are small cross-stitch needles allowed on planes? I really want to do this on the plane. It’s a 13 hour flight!

I would be more concerned about scissors. I would check with the airlines.

Hello,
I'm sorry but I really don' t know that answer at all :( Your best bet would be to call the airline that you are flying with and ask them that question. I would think it would be okay but you never know and I know airlines have different policies. Sorry I can't really answer this for you but I would definitely call the airline you are flying with.

I like to stitch on planes also. Have never had a problem with the needles - especially since cross-stitchers usually use tapestry needs which have a blunt point.
As far as scissors are concerned -- just take along a pair of nail clippers. Those work quite fine for snipping threads as you're stitching along. I usually car travel with nail clippers also just in case of an accident or sudden stop so I don't pierce myself!!

I take nail clippers, even though small scissors are usually allowed, you never know. (I had someone tell me mascara was a liquid once)

I'm not Customer Service, just a stitcher. I used to travel with my job and was always on the plane (twice a week at the least). I always carried on my stitching bag. I used a small pair of scissors to cut thread and my needles (2). I never mentioned it and just laid it in the tub to be scanned. No one ever questioned it and stitched on the plane and the attendants never said a word.
Just do it. If they take your needle and scissors, what have you really lost? I wouldn't mention anything and just put your stitching bag through the scanner with out saying a word.
Good Luck and have a Great Time in Tokyo! Haven't been there in over 40 years.

I flew to at Thanksgiving. Prior to flying I went to the website that has the list of what you can and cannot take. Federal Aviation something. There is usually a link to it at the bottom of your e-itinerary. Anyway. you can take blunt scissors and other stitching websites have these for sale. I just took nail clippers. I carried two needle with me in a needle case, no problem. The requirements for needles and scissors are on the Federal website. It has to do with the length of these items as well. I had no problems and carried them in my carry on. Have fun on your trip.
