Update: Fasting
Well, I finally was able to outfox Stomach, the gastric cells but not Brain......it notified my metabolism to speed up while I wasn’t drinking liquids and I became dehydrated.....the lab tech had to stick me THREE TIMES to find a vein with some blood..........
I heard snickering in my head......

I feel like a pincushion. I got where I was honest. Usually when I am stuck, I lie and say "no" when they ask if it hurts. This time I told them truthfully "yes argh#########". I did not curse aloud. I am glad Kreskin wasn't there. (the mindreader) I am glad it is over for you. Pam

Thanks Pam.
I hope you are feeling better now that your home. When I had surgery early Spring 2018, I was soooo glad to get home and they just kept me overnight!
People get better more quickly at home....back to your own bed and feeling there is some comfortable routine in life....

The first time I had to fast for lab work was not pretty!
I checked in and drove the guy at the window crazy because with
out caffeine I should never come in contact with anyone or anything!
He finally informed me I could have drunk a small portion of coffee with no
sugar. Fine "cause I don't do sugar. He also informed me that a small
amount of water is preferable to none at all so they could do their job
better. I felt stupid and raced home to my coffee! I just saw him this month (after a year)
and he grinned at me and asked if I was better!

I was also told it's easier to draw blood with a needle if you've been drinking before having your blood drawn. I tell the lab tech I've got my blood and I don't want to give it to them. But eventually they get the blood sample anyway. I'm not fond of being poked with a needle.

My DH was in the hospital last September for one week, Mon.-Sun. After being poked several times, one particular nurse started keeping track. He got poked 208 times! I took him to the hospital again in October, Mon.-Wed. for infusions of antibiotics in both arms, using 18" needles. He was not a happy camper! Now is arms have healed from all of the needles.

Bermuda - I think I have the record for unsuccessful "sticks." I had a Lexiscan Stress Test last summer. The tech was pretty lucky finding a vein for the isotope and for the meds. However, I had a reaction to the Lexiscan, and ended up being admitted for observation. The next morning, I had to have a CT Scan - pre-medicated because I'm allergic to the contrast die. When the tech tried to have the pump inject the die, it blew the tubing on my IV. So, back to my room, with 5 different nurses trying to find a good site. Finally, the Senior Resident came in with the Ultrasound machine, found a really deep vein, and got a line in. And, YES, that hurt like CRAP! Gotta love a Teaching Hospital! By this time, I had to have another round of pre-medication so I didn't have a reaction to the die. I was just in the hospital again, 2 weeks ago, and my stomach (Heparin injections) and my left arm (Paramedic attempted to start an IV) are STILL bruised! And I got no cross stitching done for almost 3 weeks! ! !
