Are you talking about the fabric? If you will just go to ECS and choose the fabric, it will bring up the different fabrics available. I think that it is 14 count black aida. Pam

I love working on black. However, it can be more difficult than other colors. Some of us put something white in our lap like a white towel. Also, one of the stitchers brought up using those tiny white lights behind the black. I pulled out a string of 10 battery operated lights that you can get for a dollar at Dollar Tree. I am going to try those. You will love your project stitched on black because it seems that the design just pops on black. I hope you will try the black. Good luck. Pam

Pam I just recently saw (can’t remember what website) where someone said they rub thier dark material with white soap (Ivory?) that it makes the holes pop and then washes out. Not sure. Perhaps I’ll try on a small practice piece that I am not invested in.

I'm a bit confused. Isn't this a mini (5"x 7") cover-all pattern from Artecy? Isn't that why it calls for 3 skeins of black floss? The supplies list a choice of white fabrics.

It may well be an all over by Artecy. I honestly didn't check. However, I would be tempted to only do the colors on black fabric. It is cheating I know. But still..... And then I would backstitch the color areas to make them pop out. Cheating...….I know. Pam I am going to try the ivory soap trick. Then if it didn't work--well, you still have the soap!!!!

Why would anyone rub soap all over the back of a piece of black fabric and then try to stitch on it??? I can't imagine anything worse! You'd have bits of dried soap all over everything. No offense to whoever, but that is the stupidest idea I've ever heard. Just put white fabric on your lap or on your table and the holes show up fine. Or stitch it on white fabric with black floss like it was designed to be stitched. It's not a big deal!

Karje, there are products on the market which you can use to grid with-even using black fabric. I can't remember the name but it is a white pencil type which will wash out. You could do it with making it a coverall by stitching all those black stitches on white or stitch it on black fabric. Most stitchers make decisions all the time with their work such as changing the colors or using a different thread count. It is what makes doing counted cross stitch fun and challenging. I think it is a beautiful pattern and whatever you choose to do is "A-Okay". Good luck. Peace. Pam
