I am late getting on
board the game of thrones series. I have heard so much about it. The librarian was gracious enough to let me have the whole first season, which is 5 DVDs, for the Easter weekend. They generally only let you have 3 DVDs so I was very grateful even though I saw her roll her eyes and heard her comments about people, I mean come on it's a library and it's quite be grateful people even visit it anymore, I can hear you, plus it's your job. Anyway I have watched 3 episodes while cross stitching and I must say while it is interesting, it is well not what I was expecting in some areas, I can't go into detail but I can say it has its moments of beheadings and well moments of teaching women how to you know. Has anybody else watched this series? I don't want any specific details if you have.

I read the first two books and that was enough for me. After that trip wasn't the least bit interested in the series. Too much blood and weird characters. Diane

Havenโ€™t watched it Nettie (even though a friend leant them to me) but I have read the book. Hoping he finishes them soon as apparently the show is farther than the books.

Oh, yeah! Blood, gore, violence, sex, evil, magic, dead monsters that just keep coming, treachery, dragons...what's not to love? I got the complete series for Christmas...except for 8. Lucky I had already streamed the series...twice. ๐Ÿ˜Š I have yet to watch my set, but also received the full audible set...I am a fan. Except for the thing with Ramsey...gotta skip that stuff...ick.
I don't usually like the computer generated stuff, but the production on this series completely charmed me. IF you can ignore the bad language and nudity, and accept that you aren't going to like everything you see and hear (sounds like a presidential commercial, huh?), I hope you have fun with it. Fam and friends ridicule & criticize...phooey, I didn't vote their way, either! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Thank goodness I am not the only one. I have one problem with it, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense, maybe because I got it from the library and they have a edited version but it seems to skip from scene to scene and I keep going back and rewatching only to find I saw it right the first time. I am so confused.

Iโ€™ve never watched it, not my thing at all.

I have watched a bit from first season and liked it. My DH and son are totally Throne addicts. My husband added the premium channel so they could not miss an episode. Nettie, I am surprised that your librarian acted that way. We have a beautiful library in this town of 5000. Our librarians are ecstatic when people use their facility. A couple of months ago I caught a pharmacy tech rolling her eyes at something I said.I just thought why do people have to be that way. It is a choice that we make. We can be kind to everyone or we can be a horse's patoot. If we don't want to be nice, stay home!

I agree with you pam why bother if you don't care. I don't think she realizes her job can go at any time with the way technology is going. I could have bought it and watch it any time I choose but because I am thrifty, another word for cheap...lol, I chose to take my time and support to them. I guess it doesn't matter to them that it costs me more in gas, time, and money then it would if I just watched it on the internet.

I have to ask, who edited your copies? Was it some crazy librarian?

Mine was a Christmas gift, but it I was buying, knowing what "new" would cost, I would be checking a "used" set. Or the next time HBO is offered with a free week trial, I would spend that week streaming Thrones! That's how I watched the first 6 seazons for the first time. ๐Ÿ˜„

Yes, Cess, binging is the way to go. Our son had been watching it all along and told my DH how good it was. So DH binged about 6 seasons and is totally hooked. I wouldn't be surprised if either son or DH gets the full set for Christmas. Pam
