Other than linen
Cross stitch pattern called for 32 Belfast linen, but it is too small a stitch for me. There are 3/4 stitches using two strands of floss. Would it be better to use Hardinger 22, or Aida 11?

Mary, I can understand your trouble with the 32 count. When I was very young, those counts were so easy for me. Not now. If you do your work on 22 over 2 you will get the same size as working on 11 count but you will get a much better look. Personally, I now work on 16 and 18 count and really like the look even though those higher counts are so outstanding when you get through with them. My recommendation would be 18 count but that is just me. Stitching is very personal so you need to do it on what you feel comfortable with. Good luck. Peace. Pam

Check the topic LINEN by cpop. Bjuk., gives a great description of the different fabrics. Pam

Hi all! Just would like to know how to reach this site. I'd like to try using finer fabrics than Aida.
Pam had suggested to try this : LINEN by cpop. Bjuk., gives a great description of the different fabrics
but I can't seem to find it by that address.
Thanks for your help.

The 22ct hardanger would be fine for 3/4 stitches if you're doing 2 over 2. I'm not a fan of Aida.
I'm working on 22ct hardanger but doing 1 over 1, all full cross stitches. I would not want to try any 3/4 stitches.
Are you using any magnification?

I'm thinking your pattern is two strands of floss over 2 threads. So if the resulting 16-count is too small, and you're willing to work on linen, why not use a 28-count and get 14 stitches? Or maybe your pattern wants 2 strands over 1 thread? Even the Heaven and Earth designs do 25, I think. Somebody clear up my fog, please!
