How much of a ‘newbie’ are you? Have you stitched anything previous to this? I would NOT consider this to be a beginner’s pattern, more like an intermediate project. BUT I would not discourage you for setting a higher goal and to become an experienced cross stitcher. I would recommend 2 things for you to consider: 1) If you have NOT done ANY Counted cross stitching before, I would purchase a small kit with only 3-5 floss colors to complete. This will help you become comfortable with reading a pattern, understanding how to work with the fabric, use of a hoop. Many experienced stitchers suggest this with ‘never cross stitched before in my life” newbies because we understand that taking on a complex pattern too soon can frustrate a ‘newbie’ easily where they get to the point of frustration and walk away from this wonderful type of artwork. WE do NOT want that to happen!!! Newbies are our future for the continuance of this craft!
2) If you are a ‘newbie’ and have done a couple of small kits and/or projects, then go for it! Keep in mind that if you have questions - and you will- or get frustrated when you run into a problem while stitching this project - and you will - to bring your questions and problems to this chat board and we’ll help you. There are Many, MANY experienced stitchers -both male and female - with YEARS of experience on this ‘chat’. So on that note WELCOME TO THE ECS ‘Chat’ Tina Jacobs620!!! 😊

Hmmm...55 colors means a lot of blending and confetti. It's a lovely project and you know best, but asking how hard is comparable to asking how much. Whatever the answer, you are asking how much prep you need to do it...Whether it be experience or saving up for purchase. I don't think this qualifies as beginner and Bermuda's idea of it as "intermediate" is pretty much spot on. But you're big enough to do whatever you think you can do! Do you have to do it now? Would something smaller/easier do, for now to get you project experience? 😀
