The project size is the finished size. For extra fabric on 4 sides add a couple of inches so you have room for framing.

That is the size of the picture if stitched on 14ct Aida. The finished size is 21.5 x 15.5. You will need a piece of fabric 27.5 x 21.5 inches. I always add 6 inches of fabric to the width and 6 inches to the length for framing. Some people use 4 inches to a side but I always use 6 and it gives me some leeway.

Not sure if it was clear...the project size is the total stitched area. Fabric size includes the added margins. 😄
