gardenpg, There is a website I found that is very useful in instructions concerning beadwork.
Google: Cross Stitch Helpful Hints....when the different sites come up, scroll down to "Salt and Pepper.com". Access that site....it will take you directly to pointers concerning stitching. About three quarters down that page they give specific information on doing beadwork. Hope this helps! Happy stitching....I don't have this L&L pattern, but I am going to order it. We were just talking about this design recently on a different blog. She is just a spectacular Angel!!

P.S. I printed out the info on that site and just keep it in my cross stitch miscellaneous folder.

Use a fine needle like a tapestry 28, or a beeding needle. Use a single strand of floss the color of the background fabric.

You can sew them all with 1/2 crosses, either the 1sr or 2nd course, just so they all slant the same direction.

Alternative: You can sew them with a full cross stitches to make them stand up straight. You will go through the bead for each course.

There are other ways of beading, I'd not recommend.

Tip: get a little box with sticky foam in it. Put some beads in & pick them out with your needle tip. Available as tools or notions at many sites. Saves a lot of crying when they've spilled all over the carpet.

i have made this pattern twice. both times i gave it away to admirers.....grrrr i will keep the next one. to keep the beads under control, i use a "ring" of scotch tape. i just put the tape into the bead container to stick a few on and close the container. i mark the tape before this with the number of the beads using the last 4 numbers ex. 2011 for the antique gold seed beads. then when i am finished with that number bead, i put the tape on the magnetic board edge until i need it again.....hope this makes sense.
