Right facing
Do any of the books feature stockings that the toe points to the right? These are amazing, but the ones I've made for my nieces/great nephews point to the right! Thanks

I sure enjoy this chat room. Lots of great tips. I've been stitching stockings for the whole family over the last 15 years. We have a new "grand" this year, so another stocking is the current project. I too started with stockings going to the right and wanted to keep them all the same since we often hang ALL the stockings together. I have solved this problem by making my working copies "mirrored". This reverses the pattern. The symbols will be backwards but most of the patterns are straightforward enough that this is not an issue. I have run into a problem with my current project in that it had #1 worked into the pattern and in mirroring it, of course it was backwards. I didn't notice it until I had already stitched it. I just couldn't get it to fit, so I just replaced it with solid stitching. My point here is if you are going to mirror the pattern, watch for lettering that could cause a problem. Names at the top go on fine.

I grew up with stockings that had their toes facing! My great grandmother made them with lots of embroidery and beads. Many years later, I made stockings for my parents and just reversed one pattern on a copier. It worked fine. I just used the name band from the original chart. Changed the name color on my mother's stocking to her favorite color.
