Black canvas.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to crosstitch on black material. It's hard to see where you do your cross stitch squares

I'm stitching on black fabric for one of my current WIPs. For me, simply using a clip-on double-headed LED light works. I've learned from others on this board that you can put something white on your lap while you stitch, too, so that you can see the white shine up through the holes as you stitch. I tried that tip, and it absolutely works.

By the way, this still life pattern is beautiful. I bet the results will be stunning when you've finished stitching! :)

I honestly love working on black. I have no problems seeing the stitching and the more brighter and variety the colour palette, the more it seems to pop. The next project I plan on using black fabric for is a portrait of a white poodle in memory of my childhood dog.

I've heard of using a lighted tracing table, a white pillow case, and, of all things... corn starch! The owner of Ewe Count in Cheyenne gave me that tip!

Love this pattern. I believe that there are some companion pieces available on ECS, if you are interested. I did a large project on black fabric and used a scroll frame. Usually watch tv while stitching, so I just held the frame up a little so that the light from the tv showed threw the holes in the fabric. Also used a strong light over my shoulder shining on the front. Worked well for me. Not as easy for me to work on the black fabric, but the end result was worth the extra effort. Good luck!

Beautiful pattern.

I've never stitched on black and avoid it like the plague but if you have good eyesight and patience then I would go for it. It is lovely.

Bruce is correct. Riolis has a "Still Life with Martini" and a "Still Life with Liquor" that appear to be companion pieces....

I've done a couple of projects on black and love the way it makes the picture stand out...my eyesight at this time won't tolerate working on black fabric.
