hi its a kit you get the 14 count material and thread and a pattern just find the center of pattern and center of material by folding it in half and folding in half again there's your center find the closest color and start stitching . a bunch of us are alwas here so if you have any ??s so one will help. happy stitching susieq

Hello! As mentioned, this is a kit that contains everything you need to complete the project. No hoop, some use them & some don't so that will be your personal preference. It sometimes seems also to be based on the size of the project. The pattern is not printed on the canvas. You'll receive a paper pattern that will have letters/numbers/symbols assigned to each color of thread. The pattern itself uses the symbol to indicate what color goes in each square on your fabric. Enjoy your new hobby! Many of us are on this chat & can answer any question you have so don't hesitate to ask!!

Another thing that will help is to make a working copy of the original chart. That way you mark off the stitches as you complete them. Helps to keep your place on the pattern. You can use a pen, pencil or highlighter whatever you choose. I used to use pen/pencil that way I could erase the mistakes, but lately I use a highlighter as I see it better. If I make mistakes and have to frog it (rip it, rip it out) then I'll circle the stitches in ink so I don't miss them.
