Norma, it can be worked on any fabric that you like as it is just a pattern. The fabric count will determine the size of the completed project and the amount of fabric needed. Description says that it is 32 stitches by 32 stitches. For 14 count fabric, use the following calculation: 32 / 14 = 2.29". So the finished size will be slightly over 2-1/4" square. Allow an extra 6" width and 6" length for framing. Fabric size should be approximately 8" by 8". You can skimp a little for something this small depending on how you decide to finish it off. Nice thing about a pattern, you can pick your fabric count and color. A simpler design such as this allows you to easily stitch with any colors that you prefer. Nice project. Enjoy!

Even I got it! Where were you Bruce when I was growing up with MATH? :)

I was in northern Illinois from 1957 to 1978. I am pretty good with math, so the calculations for cross-stitch are fairly easy for me.

Nice thing about this pattern is you can keep it real simple with just two colors or do the bird in red and beak in black like a cardinal. Then the other designs and background can be other colors. Do what you like to make it your own!

Excellent idea. Never thought of that. Love cardinals. I would see one at my bird feeder from time to time. I haven't seen a bird in months. Not even the house finches or mourning doves. Nothing has changed, the feeder is full with their favorite birdseed, the water dish is clean and filled with fresh water. No cats or squirrels. I don't think that the finches are migratory. It's just plain weird and sad. I loved watching them while having my morning coffee and doing the puzzles. :)
